Residents of Gulli, in Kech district’s tehsil Buleda, staged a protest on Thursday against the establishment of a new military checkpost within their residential area in Zindan. Demonstrators, including a significant number of women, blocked the road in protest of the decision.
The protesters expressed their frustration, stating that there is already one military checkpost at Bahot Bazaar, which has been a source of trouble for the locals. They vowed not to allow the installation of another checkpost in Zindan, as they believe such posts lead to the harassment and discomfort of the civilian population.
The region has already seen a heavy deployment of Pakistani forces, and the use of searchlights at night has caused distress, particularly to women, in the area. Residents are calling these actions inhumane and claim that they are exacerbating the problems faced by the local community.
The protesters demanded the removal of military personnel from residential areas, citing the negative impact on their daily lives and growing tensions.
