The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for an attack on a Pakistani military convoy in the Sami area of Kech district. The attack, which targeted vehicles on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route, resulted in multiple casualties.

Initial reports from the incident indicated that armed assailants ambushed the convoy, causing damage to several military vehicles. At the time, it was unclear which group was behind the attack, although the region is known for the activity of various Baloch ‘pro-independence’ groups. Official details regarding the extent of the damage and casualties were initially withheld.

Later, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch issued a statement to the media, confirming that their fighters were responsible for the ambush. “Our fighters targeted the convoy of the occupying Pakistani army in Sami today,” he said. “The attack resulted in the death of four enemy soldiers and injured three others.”

The spokesperson detailed that the attack occurred around 4 PM and involved the use of heavy weapons. Two of the three targeted vehicles were severely impacted. “The BLA claims responsibility for this attack,” Jeeyand Baloch stated. “Our operations will continue until our ultimate goal is achieved.”

Slain Pakistani soldier Abdul Sattar

Media sources have since confirmed the death of a Pakistani soldier named Abdul Sattar and injuries to four other personnel. The attack underscores the ongoing insurgency in Balochistan, where Baloch ‘pro-independence’ groups frequently target security forces. According to recent statistics, Baloch armed organizations have carried out over 203 attacks in the past six months, with the BLA and the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) claiming responsibility for a significant number of these incidents.
