Four Baloch men have reportedly been forcibly disappeared in Karachi, Sindh, during the preparations for the ‘Baloch Raaji Muchi’ (Baloch National Gathering).
According to reports, Pakistani forces allegedly detained four members of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) on Tuesday in Karachi while they were wall-chalking and distributing pamphlets for the upcoming ‘Baloch National Gathering’ in Gwadar.
The BYC identified the detained individuals as Shehdad Baloch, Saddam Baloch, Basit Baloch, and Abdul Rehman Shahmeer Baloch. The Deputy Superintendent of Police in Kalakot reportedly arrested the first three individuals in Nawaleen and subsequently handed them over to intelligence agencies. Their current whereabouts are unknown.
In a press conference on Wednesday, BYC Central Organizer Dr. Mahrang Baloch claimed that the state is using its full might to sabotage the ‘Baloch Raaji Muchi’ in Gwadar. “Abducting BYC members, threatening people not to provide services for the gathering, and spreading fear among the public will not deter us from organizing a peaceful assembly,” she said.
Dr. Baloch further warned that if the state deliberately disregards the law, resorts to violence, and tries to create hurdles in the ‘Baloch Raaji Muchi,’ then the entire Balochistan would be blocked indefinitely.
