Several ‘pro-independence’ Baloch armed groups have claimed responsibility for recent attacks targeting Pakistani security forces and infrastructure in Balochistan and Sindh.
In a media statement, Jeeyand Baloch, spokesperson for the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), said the group’s fighters attacked a Pakistani military post in the Sami area of Kech on the night of 23 July, killing three Pakistani soldiers. He added that another team of BLA fighters also targeted and destroyed machinery of an exploitative project near the ‘enemy’ camp.
“During the clashes, Comrade Ali Jan Baloch, was martyred by an exploding mortar shell,” Jeeyand Baloch said. “Ali Jan, a patrol commander from Turbat, had participated in multiple battles against Pakistani forces since joining the BLA in 2020. Despite his family’s suffering under the oppression of the occupying forces, the enemy failed to deter Ali Jan from his commitment to national freedom.”
In a separate statement, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) claimed responsibility for an attack on a Pakistani military camp in Teertej, Awaran. BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch stated that BLF fighters fired two rockets into the camp at 12:45 AM on Thursday, causing casualties and damage.
The BLF also reported an attack on a Pakistani military post in Kharan. “Our fighters used automatic weapons on Tuesday evening to attack the post, killing one soldier and injuring two others,” Major Baloch said. He stated that these attacks would continue until Pakistani forces withdraw from Balochistan.
Additionally, the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) claimed responsibility for destroying a 36-inch gas pipeline from Sui to Karachi. BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch said the explosion occurred near the Abdullah Board area in Sindh’s Kashmore district, disrupting the gas supply to Karachi and interior Sindh.
These recent attacks by Baloch ‘pro-independence’ armed groups highlight the ongoing insurgency in Balochistan, where tensions between Baloch armed groups and Pakistani forces continue to escalate.
