Sammi Deen Baloch has inspired the young generation of Baloch people through her ideology, courage, and consistent struggle against a tyrannical state that has suppressed a nation through force.
The Baloch people, facing colonial behavior, are oppressed and treated like slaves in their own motherland. They are subjected to inhumane treatment, and in this era of psychological warfare, people are unable to think for themselves or others who are being abducted and killed by the state. They fear raising their voices against the enemy.
Sammi Deen Baloch has been a vocal critic of enforced disappearances in Balochistan, working tirelessly to bring attention to this issue both domestically and internationally.
Her activism includes organizing protests, participating in conferences, and using social media platforms to raise awareness about the plight of families affected by these disappearances. Through her efforts, she seeks justice and accountability for the missing persons and their families.
As a victim’s family member, Sammi has led a challenging life. Her father, Dr. Deen Mohammed Baloch, was abducted by Pakistani intelligence from Ornach, Balochistan, while on duty at the hospital. Sammi has been waiting for her father for 15 years, bearing the anguish of his disappearance.
She has not only struggled for her father’s recovery but also faced societal barriers, breaking the mold of traditional gender roles. She has emerged from her home, inspired the young generation, and become a symbol of resistance.
For over a decade, Sammi has raised her voice, but those who should have heard her didn’t. They couldn’t feel her pain. Yet, it’s a proud day in Baloch history that she has received the Front Line Defenders Award for Asia and the Pacific.
She deserves more than that, for she has changed society and raised people’s voices, taking away their fear. Sammi Deen Baloch, you are a revolutionary, you are the great Baloch woman in contemporary Baloch history. More power to you and your struggle.
