Residents of Balochistan’s Pasni blocked the Makuran Coastal Highway at Zero Point on Thursday, protesting against prolonged power outages and overbilling issues.
The blockade has brought traffic to a halt, stranding vehicles and passengers traveling between Karachi and major cities in the Makuran region, including Pasni, Gwadar, Jiwani, and Turbat.
The demonstrators voiced their anger over what they describe as unfair electricity billing and unannounced power cuts. They allege that many residents are receiving inflated bills that they cannot afford. Protesters also claim that instead of addressing these billing issues, authorities have cut off the power supply to half of Ward No. 4, leaving the area without electricity.
“The entire city is suffering from unannounced load shedding, and the poor residents are unable to pay their bills due to overbilling,” said the protestors. “Instead of addressing these issues, authorities have plunged the area into darkness.”
The protesters have vowed to continue their demonstration until their demands are met. They are calling for an immediate resolution to the electricity supply problems and an end to unannounced load shedding.
