In Thursday’s session, the Deputy Chairman of the Pakistani Senate, Syedal Khan Nasar, took notice of the abduction of ten picnickers by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) in Quetta. Senator Kamran Murtaza raised the issue, prompting the deputy chairman to request reports from the federal home minister, the chief secretary of Balochistan, the IG Balochistan, and the Balochistan home minister.
The incident occurred last Thursday when the BLA detained the picnickers at Shaban, a popular picnic spot on the outskirts of Quetta. According to the BLA’s statement, their Fateh Squad acted on intelligence, suspecting the individuals of being Pakistani intelligence agents.
Currently, BLA is interrogating the detainees and investigating their movements within Balochistan. The group said that if they are found guilty, they will be dealt with accordingly. BLA said that the the decision will be publicly announced to keep the families of the detainees informed.
