The Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC) organized an educational walk in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district on Tuesday, demanding that the Sikandar University Khuzdar be made functional to address the lack of quality education in the region.
The walk, part of BSAC’s literacy campaign, ended with a sit-in protest in front of the deputy commissioner’s office.
Student leaders addressed the participants, stating that the walk aimed to raise awareness about education and combat the prevailing lack of quality education in Balochistan. They highlighted that Sikandar University, despite being fully constructed and ready for operation, remains non-functional without reason, a tactic they believe is meant to deprive Baloch youth of quality education.
Speakers criticized the state of educational institutions in the district, noting that libraries, universities, and schools are dysfunctional, under-equipped, or closed. They pointed out that only one library is operational in the entire Khuzdar district, which they find unacceptable, and mentioned that libraries in other tehsils have been locked without justification.
The protesters demanded that local and provincial officials take action to end this educational backwardness.
