Two brother from Barkhan area of Balochistan have been released and reached to their homes while three more individuals have been allegedly forcibly disappeared from Turbat and Taunsa Sahrif areas of Balochistan.

According to reports, Saeed Baloch and Hanif Baloch, who were abducted earlier this month from Balochistan’s Barkhan district, have been safely recovered and have returned home. Their recovery has been confirmed by close sources.

Hanif Baloch, a gold medalist and graduate from the Department of Social Work at the Islamic University of Bahawalpur, was forcibly disappeared on June 4th from his hometown in Barkhan. Shortly after, his brother Saeed Baloch was also detained and subsequently disappeared allegedly by Pakistani forces. The abductions sparked protests from Baloch students, but today, the brothers have finally been released.

Despite this positive outcome, the issue of enforced disappearances in Balochistan persists. In Turbat, Pakistani forces reportedly detained a man identified as Dad Shah, son of Abid Rahim, from Buledah Selo. Shah, who was residing in Turbat for employment purposes, was taken into custody on June 4th. His family confirmed his disappearance on Monday, stating that local residents witnessed his detention by the forces, and he has been missing since.

Meanwhile, the family of Farooq Baloch, who was reportedly abducted on May 28th, 2024, from A-One City, Quetta, alongside five other student companions, blocked the CPEC route in Tejaban, Kech district, demanding his immediate release. Although the other five students have been released, Farooq remains missing. His family has staged a sit-in, completely halting traffic on the route, and has announced a rally in Quetta this evening, supported by the Baloch Voice for Justice, which is also running a social media campaign for the safe return of the missing youths.
