In Balochistan’s Turbat, unknown armed individuals blocked the M-8 highway of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in the Jusak area and set fire to several trailers headed to Punjab on Thursday.
According to reports, the trailers, traveling from Gwadar to Punjab, were intercepted by the assailants who stopped the vehicles for inspection before setting them on fire. Following the incident, the armed individuals issued warnings and released the drivers unharmed.
While no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, it is important to note that Baloch ‘pro-independence’ groups have a known presence in the area. Similar attacks in Balochistan have previously been attributed to these groups.
