A young Baloch man committed suicide in the Khuzdar district of Balochistan on Friday.
According to reports, a man named Nazir Ahmed Bahramzai ended his life due to constant pressure from Pakistani armed forces in the Wadh area of the district.
Sources said that the Nazir Ahmed had participated in a peaceful protest organised by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee. The said protest was held at the end of the last year when a young student named Balach was reportedly killed in security forces’ custody. Local sources claimed that Ahmed’s participation resulted him facing continues harassment by Pakistani armed forces, which led him to take his own life.
It should be noted that suicide attempts are becoming common occurence in Balochistan. Not only men but also women take their lives due to alleged pressure and blackmailing by the State elements. As per sources, lack of social rights, unemployment, and threats from Pakistani intelligence agencies are the main causes of suicide attempts in the region.
