At least six Iranian policemen were killed and several others injured as a result of an attack on Iranian forces in the Soran-Mehristan area of western (Iranian-administrated) Balochistan on Tuesday.
The Tasnim news agency reported that six policemen were killed and several other personnel were injured in southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan.
According to media reports, two police vehicles were ambushed, resulting in the deaths of at least 6 policemen. The attack took place between the Sib and Suran border, Khash to the north, Saravan to the east, and the Pakistan border to the southeast.
Meanwhile, Jaish-ul-Adl, an armed Baloch Sunni group active against Iran, has claimed responsibility for the attack in a media statement.
It should be mentioned that Jaish al-Adl’s attacks on Iranian forces in western Balochistan have intensified in recent days. This is the second incident this month, after the group carried out a large-scale operation on six Iranian military installations in Chabahar and Rask areas of western Balochistan.
