In a significant development, Pakistan’s second-largest naval air station, PNS Siddique, located in Turbat, is currently under a heavy attack marked by intense gunfire and multiple explosions. Known for its strategic importance and the stationing of Chinese drones, the naval base has become the latest target of the BLA’s elite unit, the Majeed Brigade.
Following the outbreak of the attack, the District Health Officer of Kech has declared an emergency at the Teaching Hospital in Turbat. All medical staff, including doctors, have been ordered to report immediately to manage the anticipated casualties from the assault.
The BLA Majeed Brigade, in an email to journalists, claimed responsibility for the attack on the naval airbase in Turbat, stating, “We have entered the Pakistani Naval Airbase in Turbat.”
This incident marks the group’s second operation within a week and its third major attack this year, indicating a significant uptick in their activities. Earlier assaults included an operation in Mach city on January 29 and an attack on the ISI and MI headquarters in Gwadar on March 20.
As the situation unfolds, Turbat has seen a significant increase in military activity, with numerous helicopters observed patrolling the skies. Reports from the ground detail continuous heavy gunfire and explosions. The Frontier Corps has blocked several major roads in Turbat, and a large contingent of FC personnel has been observed moving towards the naval airbase.
In its latest communication to the media, the BLA claims to have killed “over a dozen” Pakistani personnel, with its attack on PNS Siddique in Turbat ongoing for the past three hours. Furthermore, the BLA has released an audio clip, allegedly from one of its fighters involved in the assault on PNS Siddique. The recording features the fighter claiming that multiple Pakistani vehicles have been targeted, indicating both a continuation and intensification of the attack.
