A youth committed suicide in the Mastung district of Balochistan on Saturday.

According to reports, Shahid Manzoor, a resident of Killi Pada in Mastung, ended his life by shooting himself with a pistol in his native town. The body was shifted to Nawab Ghaus Bakhsh Raisani Memorial Hospital and was later handed over to his family.

The cause of the suicide was not immediately known. Further action is being taken by the local administration in this regard.

It’s pertinent to mention that incidents of suicides in Balochistan are increasing day by day. This month, seven cases of suicides have been reported in different districts of Balochistan. More than 80 cases of suicide were reported last year, but the motives for these increasing suicides have not yet been revealed.

Several organizations working in Balochistan bear responsibility for these incidents related to unemployment, uncertain futures, and the greatest political pressure.

Following pressure from Pakistani law-enforcement forces, including coercion, blackmailing, and other means of harassment, numerous incidents of suicides have been reported, involving both men and women. Meanwhile, there have been strong reactions from rights groups against such incidents by the LEAs.
