A young man committed suicide in Hub Chowki district of Balochistan, on Saturday.
According to reports, Dawood Dad Baloch, a Baloch youth and photographer, took his own life by hanging himself with a ceiling fan at his home in Hub Chowki.
The motives behind the incident are yet to be ascertained.
It’s pertinent to mention that the rate of suicides, particularly among young men and women is increasing in Balochistan. Statistics shared by the Human Rights Department of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), PAANK, reveal an alarming rise in the number of suicide cases.
According to the organization, 80 cases of suicide were reported across Balochistan last year. However, the actual number of cases might be much higher than reported due to many cases going unreported, primarily because of the unavailability of communication systems in rural areas of Balochistan.
