Section 144 has been imposed in Turbat city for a period of one month due to prevailing security concerns, according to an official notification by the Additional Chief Secretary of Balochistan.
This decision, recommended by the Commissioner of Makran, restricts pillion riding on motorcycles from sunset to sunrise for the specified duration. Those not adhering to these regulations will be subject to legal action.
Historically, Turbat and its surrounding regions have faced attacks from Baloch ‘pro-independence’ groups targeting Pakistani forces. A recent incident in Satellite Town resulted in multiple non-local fatalities. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) later claimed responsibility, alleging that those killed were involved in spying activities for the Pakistani forces.
BLA’s spokesperson, Jeeyand Baloch, further claimed that these individuals, working covertly, were often spotted near Pakistani military bases, used military transportation, and collaborated with the so-called death squad members.
