In Quetta, Balochistan’s capital, unidentified assailants targeted a police vehicle.
According to the police, the incident took place in the suburban Kuchlak area. The attackers reportedly opened fire the patrolling police vehicle before hurling a grenade at them. The attack resulted in injuries to one police official, who was promptly transported to Civil Hospital for medical treatment.
The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) later claimed responsibility for the attack. In a statement, the TTP’s spokesperson, Muhammad Khorasani, detailed the incident. He said that TTP “mujahids” targeted a police vehicle on Samli Road in Quetta with firearms and grenades. Contrary to the initial police report, Khorasani claimed the death of one policeman and injuries to two others in the attack.
