In the tehsil Mashkay, a local resident was reportedly shot dead near the Mashkay river in the district of Awaran. The victim, identified as 37-year-old Rahim Dad s/o Umeet Mohammad Hasani of Kalar Mashkay, was allegedly fatally shot on Saturday evening by unidentified armed individuals.

Local sources have linked the assailants to an alleged government-supported group commonly referred to as the ‘death squad’. Meanwhile, the human rights department of BNM, PAANK, has stated that Rahim Dad was previously detained by the Pakistani forces on June 5. He had been released earlier this week, only to be shot down in cold blood.

It is pertinent to mention that this is not an isolated incident. Recently, a school teacher named Javed Lahri was similarly killed in Wadh, Khuzdar. Local sources suspect the involvement of the same state-sponsored groups in that incident as well.

These incidents add to the growing concerns about the actions of the Pakistani army in Balochistan. The repeated reports of forcible relocations, unwarranted detentions, and abductions by the army, as well as targeted killings by state-sponsored death squads, continue to cause alarm and distress among the Baloch population.
