In a somber ceremony that drew a crowd of mourners, the funeral prayers for “Fedayee”[self-sacrificer] Naveed Baloch, who took part in the recent attack on Chinese engineers in Gwadar, were held in his hometown of Dasht Kapkapaar.
The coastal city of Gwadar was recently rocked by a massive assault on Chinese engineers, an attack orchestrated by the Majeed Brigade – a self-sacrificing unit of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). Among the attackers were Naveed Baloch alias Aslam, and Maqbool Baloch alias Qaim.
According to BLA’s statement, the clash between Pakistani armed forces and BLA’s “Fedayeen” lasted at least for two hours and then BLA fighters used their last rounds for themselves by following the organisation’s philosophy of “last bullet”.
BLA claimed to have killed four Chinese engineers and eleven Paksitani troops in this attack. While on the other hand, Pakistani authorities only confirmed the injuries of two Pakistani soldiers.
The incident has sent shockwaves through Balochistan and beyond, drawing attention to the regional tensions and the independence movement of Balochistan.
