An explosion rocked an under-construction railway track in the Harnai district of Balochistan on Tuesday.
Local sources report that the incident occurred in the Sondi area of Harnai, where unidentified individuals had planted explosives along the railway track. The explosion coincided with workers arriving at the site for their morning shift, resulting in a deafening blast.
No casualties have been reported thus far as a result of the explosion. Immediately after the detonation, laborers abandoned their posts, leaving behind their tools and equipment as they hurriedly evacuated the area.
The targeted railway track plays a crucial role in connecting Balochistan to Punjab, and it has been alleged that its intended purpose was to facilitate military transportation and logistical operations.
It’s noteworthy that the Harnai district has witnessed a series of attacks carried out by Baloch armed groups, prominently, the Baloch Liberation Army, or BLA. These groups have consistently engaged in armed operations against Pakistani forces and military installations in the region. Despite this history, no group has yet come forward to claim responsibility for this recent attack.
