A young man from Balochistan named Muhammad Hassan Tareen was found dead in the Satellite town area of Quetta on Friday. According to reports, he had taken his own life by hanging himself.
The motive behind Tareen’s suicide remains unclear. However, his death adds to the concerning trend of increasing suicide rates in Balochistan. In fact, there have been three reported suicides in the past week alone, highlighting the urgent need for action to address the issue.
Experts suggest that the rise in suicides in Balochistan can be attributed to several factors. These include the disappearance of loved ones allegedly at the hands of Pakistani security forces, financial problems, and family pressures, particularly among Baloch women.
Despite the severity of the situation, there has been a lack of response from the government to prevent further tragedies. This silence only amplifies the urgent need for action to address the mental health crisis in Balochistan.
