An official of Pakistan’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) was killed in a bomb blast in Balochistan’s Khuzdar city on Thursday. While two army personnel and one of their local collaborators were also targeted in two different attacks on Tuesday and Friday night in the Kalat district of Balochistan — The Baloch Liberation Army took responsibility for the attacks.
According to a press release, BLA said that its Special Tactical Operations Squad (STOS), the special forces of the Baloch Liberation Army, target killed Sharbat Khan, a senior officer of the Pakistani military’s so-called department CTD, in an operation in Khuzdar on Thursday.
BLA’s spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said that in a combined operation, BLA’s intelligence wing and STOS targeted the CTD officer Sharbat Khan near Jhalawan Medical Complex. Sharbat Khan was killed on the spot and his vehicle was fully destroyed in the bomb attack, Baloch stated. He added that Sharbat Khan was involved in forcible disappearances, torture, and fake encounters of the Baloch youth.
BLA will continue to hold accountable every perpetrator that is involved in crimes against the Baloch nation, the group warned.
Whereas on Friday evening, BLA released another statement saying that the group has “eliminated an enemy collaborator” and two personnel of the Pakistani military in two separate attacks in Kalat.
It said that on Tuesday, the BLA fighters target killed Zaman Khan, an important member of the Pakistani military-backed death squad in the Dasht Goran area of Kalat.
“Zaman Khan was on the payroll of the Pakistani military and worked as an enemy collaborator for many years in Shoor Parod area. He was directly involved in the martyrdom of BLA fighters Mama Shams Pirkani, Doctor Shoaib Baloch, and BLF fighter Zafar Mohammad Hasni in May 2019. He was also involved in the martyrdom of BLA fighters Shahdad Baloch and Ehsan Baloch,” the statement read.
In another attack, BLA fighters targeted the security post of the Pakistani military’s main camp in Kalat, Balochistan on Friday night.
BLA’s statement read that the “freedom fighters of BLA targeted the enemy position with grenade launchers and other automatic weapons when five enemy personnel were present at the post. Two enemy personnel were killed on the spot and others were injured.”
According to reports, the Baloch “pro-independence” armed groups have intensified their attacks on Pakistani forces and installations in the years 2022-2023.
