Young school children in Turbat took to the roads to protest against the dearth of course books in their school, the Government Boys School. The students also complained about the lack of teachers in their school.
According to reports, dozens of students in Josk, Turbat, protested against the lack of course books and teachers in their school. The students said the authorities have not paid attention towards solving the problem that has been going on for years.
A similar case has been observed in Surab where many government schools are running short of course books. Watan Teachers Association Surab President Muhamad Tahir Mullahzai said the Education Department of Balochistan supplied course books in extremely low quantities. He said that some course books have become very rare – schools don’t get access to them throughout the year. He said the government allocated hundreds of millions of rupees for education and books. Where does all that money go? He asked.
Mullahzai said the authorities have been notified about this issue multiple times but to no avail. He appealed to the Deputy Commissioner of Surab to take notice of the problem and resolve it forthwith. He said the future of Balochistan’s children is at stake; we cannot gamble with that.
