17 persons were killed and injured in Sarawan area of Western Balochistan (Sistan and Baluchestan) when Iranian forces opened fire on a vehicle on Tuesday.

According to reports, the Iranian security forces, belonging to the Mirsad Force opened fire on a vehicle that was carrying over a dozen passengers in Western Balochistan’s county of Sarawan. As a result, seventeen persons were killed and injured.

Iranian security forces targeted a vehicle that was carrying passengers who intended to go to Europe through Iran. The vehicle was targeted by the Mirsad Force, a branch of Iranian law-enforcement agencies, the sources said.

Due to the firing, the vehicle turned turtle which resulted in killing and injuring at least seventeen people. It has not been confirmed how many people were killed and how many of them sustained injuries but the reports said the vehicle was carrying at least seventeen persons.

It is to be noted that thousands of people across South Asia, particularly from Pakistan and Afghanistan try to flee to European countries using Iranian routes. Human smuggling through the Iranian border is not uncommon — many of them get captured while some manage to reach Europe.
