Residents of Quetta city staged a protest demonstration on Tuesday outside the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) office against unannounced gas load-shedding.

According to reports, the protesters burnt tires and blocked the main Samungli road to record their protest. Protesters lamented that the gas company has completely failed to provide supply in this chilly weather. Residents said that women and children were suffering from diseases because of the dry cold weather in the area.

The protesters chanted full-throated slogans against the SSGC administration and demanded of the company to make sure of the provision of an uninterrupted gas supply. “We will intensify our protest against the gas company”, they said.

As per reports, no official held negotiations with protesters. Long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road were witnessed as a result of the blockade of the road.

Amid freezing temperatures, gas pressure reduction, load shedding, and lack of facilities add to the miseries of the people and citizens face difficulties in the severe cold every year.
