The Physiotherapists’ months-long protests neglected by the government have turned into a hunger strike. The hunger strike completed its 12th day on Saturday.
The spokesperson of the Balochistan Physiotherapy Association (BPA) said, “we are holding all-out protests in front of Quetta press club for the last six months for our legitimate demands which have turned into a hunger strike for the last 12 days.
He said the condition of our friends is becoming alarming, but the Balochistan government and the so-called representatives are busy in their “monkey business.” As always, showing indifference to the problems of Balochistan while maintaining its incompetent, anti-education, and anti-health policies is a matter of concern.
BPA spokesperson said that physiotherapy is a health sector that is very important profession, that plays an important role in improving the quality of life of people by analyzing their physical, psychological, and emotional factors as well as their social well-being. Especially in an underdeveloped area like Balochistan, where people suffer from various natural and unnatural accidents on daily basis. But there is no such rehabilitation center or physiotherapy hospital for treatment.
“Therefore we strongly demand the government of Balochistan to meet our demands as soon as possible so that the health of our friends on hunger strike does not deteriorate further,” the spokesman added.
He further said that if something happens to our friends, the government of Balochistan and so-called representatives of Balochistan will be responsible.
It is to be noted that physiotherapists have been protesting for more than six months. In October, the police baton charged and arrested several Physiotherapists during a raid on their protest camp.
