The youth who went missing in the Dasht area of Balochistan’s district Kech on Tuesday was found dead in a nearby cavern.

The victim, identified as Abdullah s/o Muhammad, a resident of Dasht, was reportedly on his way to Kashap on his motorcycle when he went missing along the way. Local sources claim that he was followed on a bike by two unidentified men.

Abdullah was found dead on Wednesday in a cavern between Kashap and Kapkapar. It is not clear whether Abdullah was killed by the two anonymous bikers or whether he fell into the cavern when he was being chased. The bikers are yet to be identified.

In a separate incident, the Pakistani forces reportedly detained a father and his son in a raid in the Gichk on Wednesday morning. The two detainees were identified as Hasil Khas s/o Gohram and his son Noor Muhammad. The forces moved the detainees to an undisclosed location and their condition and whereabouts remain unknown.

It is pertinent to mention that “enforced disappearances” have once again seen a spike in Balochistan in the past few weeks. The Pakistani forces allegedly raided a house on Wednesday in the Gireshg area of Khuzdar and picked six men from one family, including a father and his four sons. The detainees remain missing to this day, and their condition remains unknown.

Outraged by the disappearances, the general public in Khuzdar blocked the main RCD Highway in protest, demanding the detainees be released forthwith. The protest was called off only when the district administration intervened and assured the protestors that their demands will be met.
