Female students staged a protest outside Government Girls High School in Gomazi, in Balochistan’s Kech district, against the seizure of the school’s newly provided bus by unidentified gunmen near Gidar in Surab district.
During the demonstration, the students held placards calling for the safe return of the school bus.
The students said the bus would provide a much-needed transport facility for girls travelling to the school from Gomazi, Malant and surrounding areas. However, they expressed dismay that it had been seized when they had not yet had the opportunity to travel in it.
They appealed to those who had taken the bus to consider the girls’ difficulties and educational needs and return it safely without delay. Its return would ease their daily transport difficulties and spare them the high fares charged by private transport providers, they said.
The students also called on the relevant authorities to take immediate measures to ensure the bus’s safe return, emphasising its importance in helping them access education.
