Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizejo inaugurated the newly constructed Mrhgargh museum on Sariab Road in Quetta on Wednesday, vowing that the government would ensure the protection and preservation of Balochistan’s archaeological sites.

Speaking at the inauguration, Bizenjo said that Mehrgarh, a civilization estimated to be 7000 years old, is among the oldest human settlements in the world. He said that it highlighted Balochistan and the lifestyle its people lived thousands of years ago.

“We are proud of having the ownership of the world’s oldest civilization in Mehrgarh in Balochistan”, the chief minister said.

Bizenjo further added that the government was working on a plan to protect the archaeological sites of Balochistan by constructing museums in all the divisional headquarters. He also expressed his annoyance over the poor workmanship and directed authorities to remove the defects in the edifice.

The chief minister said that the artefacts from Mehrgarh would be transported from Karachi and placed at the museum.
