Unknown individuals set a school on fire in Shahrag area of Balochistan’s Harnai district on Thursday.
According to reports, Mines Labor Welfare High School located in PMDC Colony was set on fire by unidentified miscreants. As a result, three rooms of the school building were completely burnt to ashes.
The residents of the area extinguished the fire on their own, as there were no rescue teams at the scene, sources said. However, the cause of the fire could not be ascertained.
Locals sources said that some unknown persons have been damaging school assets: chairs and desks, for past 5 days but no action was taken. Locals assume that the school was burnt to ashes today due the negligence of the administration, which has spread fear among local students and teachers.
Some schools were also set on fire in Kech and Panjgur districts of Balochistan in the past.
It is to be noted that pamphlets by so-called Al-Furqan and Al-Jihad groups were also thrown at burnt schools in Kech and Panjgur, where girls were threatened for going to school and boys were forbidden from learning English.
However, the motive for the setting ablaze of the school in Harnai has not been revealed yet.
