Six more people have been allegedly disappeared after they were arrested from Panjgur and Kech districts, while a missing person from Mach area of Balochistan has been released.

According to details, a Baloch missing person named Ataullah Shahwani, who went missing from Mach in 2021, was released on 19th March.

However, while one person returned home, six others went missing from two different districts of Balochistan.

In one incident, the security forces raided a house in Parom, a township in Panjgur district, and “disappeared” four people after arresting them, said sources.

The detainees have been identified as Zahoor s/o Muhammad Ali, Asghar s/o Muhammad Ali, Ashfaq s/o Abdul Khaliq and Shakoor.

Sources said that a large number of forces sieged the Parom area, arrested the said persons and confiscated their belongings.

Furthermore, there are reports from Kech district, that Pakistani forces have disappeared two people from Turbat area of Kech on March 20. They have been identified as Akbar s/o Master Aslam and Naeem s/o Rehmat.

The spike in enforced disappearances of Baloch youth has been meted with increased number of protests by Baloch students and others across Pakistan.

Baloch Students in Islamabad who have been on a sit-in protest for the safe recovery of their fellow student Hafeez Baloch, boycotted their classes on 21st March. Baloch students in Karachi also boycotted their classes and showed solidarity with Baloch students and demanded the safe release of Hafeez Baloch.

On other hand, Gulzar Dost who has organised a long-March by foot from Kech district to Quetta reached his final destination on Monday. The safe release of missing persons was one of the main demands of Dost’s Long-March.
