At least three people were killed and 26 injured in a blast in Lahore’s Anarkali area, on Thursday.
A powerful blast has killed 3 people and injured around two dozen people in the Anar Kali area of Lahore on Thursday. Police said a child was also among the dead. The bomb went off in one of the busiest areas of the city.
The Spokesman for Lahore police said that bomb was planted in a motorcycle parked on the roadside. The caused casualties in the area. Police and rescue workers were quick at the spot and shifted the injured to Mayo hospital for medical treatment.
Emergency was imposed in the hospital to provide medical treatment to the injured of the blast that rocked the entire area. Speaking to reporters at the scene of the incident, Lahore Police DIG Operations Abid Khan said that the impact of the blast had left behind a crater which suggested that it was caused by a bomb.
A Baloch armed group took the responsibility of the attack on its twitter account and later in a press release. Mureed Baloch, a spokesman for the Baloch Nationalist Army(BNA), said in a statement to the media that the BNA claims responsibility for the remote-controlled bomb blast in Lahore.
The spokesman said that the main target of the blast was police guards including a Pakistani bank official who was killed and several others were injured in the blast.
“We want to make it clear to the world that the purpose of our attack was to record a protest against the worst violence and killing of women and children by Pakistani forces in Balochistan, which we have achieved,” BNA spokesperson said.
It is to mention that BNA was formed by the merger of two Baloch “pro-independence” armed groups, the Baloch Republican Army and the United Baloch Army. The Lahore attack is the 2nd attack since the group came into being on January 11, 2022. The group carried out its first attack on Wednesday, targeting a convoy of the Pakistan Army in Kech district of Balochistan. BNA claimed their fighters killed 4 army personnel in the attack.
