The family members of missing Tariq Baloch said in a media statement that he was summoned by the Pakistani security forces to their camp in Kolwa, district Kech, and forcefully abducted him. He has not returned since.
The family members said that Tariq Baloch was taking his sick child to Karachi for treatment when he was summoned by the personnel of the Frontier Corps to their camp Kolwa. He was detained there and moved to an unknown location. The family members appealed to human rights groups to raise their voices for the safe recovery of Tariq Baloch.
It is worth mentioning that in the remote, rural areas of Balochistan – like Kolwa – the security forces have launched a new initiative. They are forcefully summoning the locals to visit the FC camp and register their names. Many people have been reportedly detained during such visits to the camps.
In a separate incident in district Kech, the Pakistani security forces reportedly raided a house in Tump in the early hours of Sunday and forcefully abducted an individual named Lateef s/o Muhammad. He was moved to an unknown location and his condition remains unknown.
The security forces had abducted four members of this family in a raid on December 23. They were identified as Basham s/o Ghulam Muhammad, Sari s/o Ibrahim, Shiraz s/o Ismail and Hakeem s/o Ghulam Muhammad.
Sari is a fourth-year student in the physics department of the University of Balochistan in Quetta. He had returned home for the winter holidays when he was abducted by the security forces.
