The large-scale military operation that began in Bolan and its environs on Wednesday is in full swing for the second day. A thousands-strong contingency of the Pakistani security forces has established a temporary encampment in the region and gunship choppers have been sighted circulating the area.
Viral photos on social media showed a large number of security forces marching into Bolan from Machh. The forces are also assisted by military helicopters which have reportedly bombarded several civilian settlements in Soorgarh, Chalri and Bok. Because the cellular services are suspended during such operations, the extent of the destruction is not yet known and it is still not clear if the forces have carried out any “enforced disappearances.”
According to sources, the security forces had gotten very close to a small camp of Baloch “pro-independence” fighters in the mountains, but the fighters managed to escape. The forces reportedly opened fire on their cattle, killing several donkeys on the spot.
On the second day of the operation, the gunship helicopters were seen dropping cadres of Pakistani forces in several areas.
