The accidents occurred in Lasbela and Khuzdar districts of Balochistan, on Wednesday.

A passenger coach has met with an accident in Bela tehsil of Lasbela District in which 8 people including 2 Levies personnel were killed and 22 others injured.

The passenger coach was on its way to Karachi from Panjgur when it  initially turned turtle over a levies check post near Uthal on the main highway. The injured were rushed to Jam Ghulam Qadir Hospital by Edhi Ambulance.

The deceased have been identified as Sepoy Mohammad Aslam, resident of Rijal Bela; Sepoy Muhammad Yusuf Ameen, resident of Doda Bela; Naz, wife of Abdul Sattar; Zulaikha, resident of Panjgur, Haleem Jan Akbar Baloch, Gul Shama Sabir, Noordan Majid and Bismillah Omar Majid, residents of Panjgur.

Some of the injured have been identified as Sepoy Gulam Ali, Sepoy Muhammad Alyas, Muhmmad Yaqoon Iqbal, Muhamad Saleem Baloch, Hameedullah, Abdul Majid Mirwani, Nouroz Khan, Abdul Sattar, Sagar Sabir and Fatima- wife of Majid.

Similarly, one person was killed and two others were injured in a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle on Quetta-Karachi National Highway near Khuzdar.

According to Levies, a speeding vehicle and a motorcycle collided on the National Highway killing the motorcyclist and injuring at least two others, who were taken to hospital. The deceased has been identified as Abdul Hakim.

It’s pertinent to mention that the number of traffic accidents in Balochistan have been increasing day by day, the main causes of traffic accidents are narrow and dilapidated highways as well as negligence of drivers.

However recently, the Balochistan government had announced to install trackers system in 316 Quetta-Karachi passenger coaches to check the over-speed.

While according to civilians, the trackers system only in 316 buses is not the solution. “Main reason of accidents is bad roads and government is not paying attention the real problem,” locals said.
