A protest demonstration was held in Turbat against the extrajudicial killing of Haneef Chamrok, father of renowned human rights activist Tayyaba Baloch.
According to the details, a demonstration was held in Turbat on Tuesday against the extrajudicial killing of Haneef Chamrok. Speaking to the protestors, leaders of Baloch students Organisation (BSO) and Balochistan National Party – Awami demanded the police to arrest the killers of Haneef Chamrok as soon as possible.
A large number of people from all walks of life participated in the protest. They carried placards demanding action against the perpetrators.
Haneef Chamrok was shot dead on Friday, when he was sitting with his friends outside his house near Jahan Ghar in Sangani-sar. According to the police, Chamrok had received multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot.
Haneef Chamrok, a singer of Balochi language, was father of Tayyaba Baloch. Tayyaba has been campaigning for human rights in Balochistan for many years. She also held the position of chairperson at Baloch Human Rights Organisation (now HRCB).
According to Bibi Gul Baloch, the chairperson of Human Rights Council of Balochistan, Haneef Chamrok did not have personal enmity with anyone. Bibi Gul, while talking to BBC, alleged that Haneef Chamrok had received threats in past due to Tayyaba Baloch’s activities.
Tayyaba, who was a vocal voice against human rights violations in Balochistan and campaigned for the release of Baloch missing persons, is believed to have limited her activities after the threats to her father.
Earlier HRCB condemned assassination of Haneef Chamrok and called upon the government to form an impartial committee to investigate the “tragic incident” HRCB demanded that the perpetrators must be held accountable.
Whereas, Nasir Baloch, a central leader of Baloch National Movement (BNM) blamed the “death squads” behind the killing of Hanif Baloch and termed the incident as an instance of “collective punishment”.
