Military operations are reportedly being carried out in several areas of Kech and Awaran for past two days.
According to sources, Pakistani security forces have cordoned off several areas of Kech and Awaran, including Ashaal, Marastaan, Rodkaan and are carrying out aerial and ground operations. Forces are also advancing through several areas of Ormara.
The local sources have reportedly seen the military gunship helicopters shelling various areas. During the operation, communication networks of these areas have been shut down, hence there is no way of confirming the claims yet.
It is pertinent to mention that last week Pakistani security forces and personnel of the Oil and Gas Development Authority were ambushed by Baloch insurgents on the Ormara highway. The forces sustained heavy casualties – 14 persons were dead and several others were critically wounded.
The Ormara highway was immediately shut for all kinds of transportation and military operations were carried out in the area, assisted by gunship choppers.
Baloch Raji Aajoi Sangar – an umbrella organization of Baloch pro-independence organizations – claimed responsibility for the attack. The spokesperson for the group, Baloch Khan, said in a statement that BRAS warns all “exploitative companies” of the “oppressive” that they must abandon all of their projects in Balochistan. He also conveyed a message to China and other foreign countries that the Baloch nation does not accept any of their agreements with Pakistan regarding Balochistan.
In another news today, the Pakistani security forces reportedly sustained a mine blast in Tump area of Kech. A forces personnel reportedly died in the blast. The relevant authorities have not commented on the reports.
The forces were reportedly tracing the borders along the Goldsmid and the Durand line when the blast went off. The forces have also faced resistance from Baloch armed groups in the region and have frequently sustained heavy losses in the past. Earlier in May, the security forces were attacked in Kech. Seven personnel – including a Major – died in the attack. These troops were on their way to inspect the tracing of the border along the Goldsmid line. Baloch Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attack, but today’s attack has not been claimed by any group yet.
