A demonstration was held in Kech district against the murder of journalist Shaheena Shaheen on Thursday.

According to details, the demonstration rally was held against the lack of justice in the murder case of Baloch journalist and artist Shaheena Shaheen from Public library to Shaheed Fida Chowk in Turbat city of Kech district.

The participants in rally held placards and banners that bore slogans like “Justice for murdered Shaheena Shaheen”.

According to details, the family members of the vicim, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), Baloch Students Organization (BSO) and activists from various social organizations participated in the protest.

The participants started the rally from college road to Thermometer Chowk, which then culminated as a demonstration on Shaheed Fida Chowk.

Ghani Parwaz, the regional coordinator of HRCP, and other speakers criticized the role of district administration and police for showing a slow pace in the case and not arresting the murderer, despite the span of two weeks.

“The police are protecting the accused by showing impartiality”, said the speakers.

It should be noted that protests are underway against the murder of Shaheena Shaheen in different parts of Balochistan.

Meanwhile, the Baloch Committee Netherlands has also announced a protest.

It should be noted that Shaheena Shaheen was allegedly murdered by her husband two weeks ago in Turbat.

Shaheena Shaheen was a Baloch artist, a T.V anchor and chief editor of the Baloch magazine “Dazgohar”.

Balochistan is considered to be one of the most dangerous places for journalists; the abductions and targeted killings of journalists are not uncommon in the region.
