A press conference conducted in Quetta, and a social media campaign launched on twitter today, when 2 years of enforced disappearance of Bilal Ahmed completed.

Hooran Baloch, a Baloch activist said to the media in a press conference in Quetta, that the enforced disappearance of Bilal Ahmed is not new but every third house in Balochistan is facing this serious problem of enforced disappearance.

According to Hooran, Bilal Ahmed S/O renowned Baloch national singer Meer Ahmed was abducted along with his friends on 31 August, 2018 at a picnic point from Noshki, when he was having a picnic party with his friends.

She said that the Pakistani army has also revealed the pictures of Bilal Ahmed and other detainees in their custody. After the arrest he wasn’t handed over to the police. Neither any FIR was registered against him, nor he was produced in the courts, she added.

She said, that our demand is very simple and in accordance with the constitution and law of the country, that if Bilal Ahmed has committed any crime should be produced in the court; but it seems that the state institutions do not trust their own courts and the constitution, which is why they have established their own separate courts and rules.

Hooran Baloch said, through this press conference we demand that all missing persons including Bilal Ahmed should be given the constitutional and human rights. “We will continue our protest till we get justice, and in case of disappointment from the domestic courts, we will approach the international courts”, she further added.

It should be noted that enforced disappearances are a serious problem in Balochistan and other parts of Pakistan. There have been continuous protests against it but no reduction has been observed in number of abductions. Baloch nationalist parties, victim families and Sindh based human rights groups blame Pakistani army for the enforced disappearances and local ‘death squads’ which are allegedly formed by Pakistani intelligence services. On the other hand, the military denies the allegations.
