A five star hotel in Gwadar port city has been stormed and occupied by armed militants.

According to details received by The Balochistan Post, at least four assailants attacked and subsequently occupied the 5-star hotel in Gwadar, Balochistan.

Gwadar hosts the integral port for China’s flagship corridor called China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which is part of its One Belt One Road initiative.

According to local administration, security forces have cordoned off the hotel and heavy fighting continues in the area.

The Information Ministry in Balochistan has confirmed that few guests have sustained injuries so far, however, further details regarding the casualties are still unconfirmed.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, however, Baloch Liberation Army had last year attacked Chinese interests in the region multiple times using its ‘suicide squad’.

Recently the armed organiation had threatened to carry out more attacks.
