A Polio worker was gunned down in Pishin district of Balochistan on Friday.
According to details received by The Balochistan Post, A local Polio Worker was shot dead by unidentified armed men in Pishin City.
Law enforcement forces reached the site after the incident and cordoned off the area.
“Attackers were in a vitz car where they opened fire and managed to flee the site of the attack”, said eye-witnesses.
In past many deadly attacks on Polio teams have been reported in Balochistan, and different areas of Pakistan.
There were no immediate claims of responsibility for the violence, but in the past responsibilities of such attacks have been claimed by religious militant groups.
Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria are the only countries in the world where polio is endemic, according to the World Health Organization.
Attacks on polio teams are not uncommon in Pakistan. Militants perceive the immunization effort as part of a Western plot to sterilize Pakistani children.
