“Rs50 million ransom was paid to secure his release”, Chairman Doctors Action Committee
 
According to the Balochistan Post correspondent, Neurosurgeon Ibrahim Khalil returned home today after being kidnapped 48 days ago from the capital city Quetta.
 
Talking to the media, Doctors Action Committee chairman Dr Tahir Mandokel said he was informed by Dr Khalil that he paid Rs50 million ransom to secure his release.
 
Mandokhel said Dr Ibrahim Khalil was subjected to torture and spent a difficult time during his abduction.
 
He said government had no role in his release.
 
The family said the doctor was released in Karachi from where he took a flight to Quetta.
 
Muhammad Umar, nephew of Doctor Khalil said his uncle was quite tired and mentally disturbed.
 
Earlier, reports citing police officials claimed that the doctor hailed a taxi to reach home after being released on Maal Road in Chaman.
 
Doctors organizations in Quetta had been boycotting OPDs to protest the kidnapping of Ibrahim Khalil.
