Shia pilgrims blocked the road in protest when they were stopped by the police
According to the details received by the Balochistan Post, Shia pilgrims blocked the road in Sim Shaakh area of Balochistan when they were stopped by the police to travel further ahead.
A 67-year-old woman was hit by a vehicle during the protest and succumbed to the wounds later at the hospital. Pilgrims held police force accountable for the incident as they forced the pilgrim to come out of their buses.
Pilgrims were travelling in five buses and had entered Balochistan from Jacob-abad, the border city of Sindh-Balochistan.
After a successful negotiation with the SSP Jafar Abad, protest was called off and buses were allowed to travel.
Every years hundred of Shia Muslims travel through Balochistan to enter Iran and go to the pilgrimage to Iraq. They are often barred from travelling due to high sectarian tension in Balochistan.
