A fresh military operation began in Shahrag, Harnai this morning after scores of military vehicles and gunship helicopters arrived in the area last night.
According to local TBP correspondent, locals reported increased military movement in the area with gunship helicopters and military vehicles arriving last night in Shahrag, which is only 66km away from provincial capital Quetta.
The locality of Shahrag was completely cordoned off this morning and huge blasts were heard from the nearby mountains.
The locality and nearby areas have seen multiple military operations over last few months as attacks by armed groups, mainly Baloch Liberation Army, have escalated in the region.
Last week, BLA had targeted and captured multiple outposts of Pakistani military in the region. BLA later said four Pakistani personnel were killed and several others were injured, however, the public relations department of Pakistani military did not made any comments.
BLA later also released images of the fallen outposts and caches of weapons confiscated after the battle.
Locals allege that after attacks by armed groups, Pakistani security forces initiate military operations in the region but instead target unarmed civilians.
Last year in August, in one such military operation at least 17 people, including 5 women and children were killed in Shahrag. Political organisations alleged that innocent civilians were targeted in ‘revenge attacks’.
