A Baloch woman and her three daughters have been taken away allegedly by Pakistani security forces from Gresha, in district Naal Khuzdar.
The said family was first arrested and then moved to an undisclosed location by Personnel of Pakistani security forces, the locals have said.
According to details received by The Balochistan Post, Adeela and her three daughters 6-year-old Soorat, 4-year-old Sammo and infant Chammi, the residents of Mashkay, were arrested and taken away from Gresha.
Adeela’s husband Sanaullah is already in custody of Pakistani security forces and he has not been heard of since his arrest.
This is not first reported incident of women abduction from the area. In July 2018, mother and two sisters of a missing Baloch child had also been ‘taken away’ by Pakistani security forces. Personnel of Pakistani security forces in various vehicles had raided house of Allah Baksh, and had forcibly taken away 55-year-old Noor Malik, and her two daughters 22-year-old Haseena and 18-year-old Sameena.
In another incident in July, A man and his wife were ‘abducted’ from Gichk, near Panjgur. They were identified as Jumal s/o Dost Mohammad and his wife Bibi Waseema.
The term ‘abducted’ is widely used in Balochistan to connote arrests made by security forces as the arrested are not presented before court of law and instead kept in military camps.
In April 2018, a local media outlet claimed that as many as 40 women and children, belonging to the same family, were under custody of Pakistani military and its ‘local death squads’ in Mashkay.
In June 2018, Pakistani security forces were accused of raping Baloch women in Rakshan Naag. According to reports, a pregnant woman lost her unborn child due to the rape.
Khalil Baloch, the Chairman of BNM, had said that the women in Rakshan were forcibly shifted to an army camp, where they were sexually assaulted and tortured by military men, which resulted in miscarriage of at least one pregnant woman.
According to Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), a campaign group by families of victims, more than 20,000 Baloch men, women and children are under Pakistani custody. VBMP also alleges that at least 5,000 missing persons have been killed and dumped over last one decade.
International campaign groups including Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International also accuse Pakistani security forces as the culprits of ‘illegal abductions in Balochistan’.
Pakistani Military denies these allegations.
