Baloch Human Rights Organisation (BHRO) calls Judiciary and Parliament helpless on the abductions of women and children in Balochistan.

“Innocent women and children who raise voice for the recovery of their loved ones are being arrested and moved to the military camps, as a collective punishment,” said Tayyaba Baloch, BHRO’s Vice-chairperson.

BHRO’s Vice-chairperson held a press conference in Quetta press against the abductions of Baloch Women and children.

“The missing person situation exacerbated when they started picking up the women who were raising voice for the recovery of their loved ones. Since last few years, women are being arrested and moved to the military camps as collective punishment”, accused Tayaba.

Tayaba mentioned a number of cases including the abduction of dozens of women from Awaran in December 2017, abduction of missing person Sanaullah’s wife Adeela and their three daughters from Khuzdar, abduction of Waseema and her husband from Punjgur.

Baloch campaign groups and local human rights organisations have accused Pakistani security forces of ‘abducting’ Baloch women and children in past too.

According to Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), another campaign group, more than 20,000 Baloch men, women and children are under Pakistani custody.

VBMP also alleges that at least 5,000 missing persons have been killed and dumped over last one decade.

International campaign groups including Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International also accuse Pakistani security forces as the culprits of ‘illegal abductions in Balochistan’.

Pakistani Military denies these allegations.
