Baloch fighters and Pakistani Army personnel have clashed near Gwadar on Monday morning.
According to The Balochistan Post correspondent, armed clashes took place in Teerandask near Gwadar. The area is in close vicinity to Gwadar post, where China has invested more than 46 billion US Dollar for China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Talking about the incident, a resident of Gwadar told our correspondent: “I was on my way to Gwadar city to attend funeral of a relative. We were stopped and personnel of Pakistani forces throughly searched my vehicle. We had heard intense firing and explosions in the area a while ago”.
Gwahram Baloch, the spokesman of Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has confirmed the incident and said: “BLF fighters were on a routine patrol near Teerandask around 11 o’clock this morning. They came face to face with Pakistani forces, who then tried to encircle our fighters. BLF fighters engaged in a fierce battle with Pakistani forces and inflicted heavy losses on them.”
The battle continued for half an hour resulting in Pakistani forces to back off, the spokesman of BLF claimed.
Different Baloch armed organisations fighting for an independent Balochistan, are active along the CPEC route. These groups have publicly opposed CPEC and routinely target Pakistan army, FWO workers and other infrastructure on CPEC route.
