Provincial health minister of Balochistan, Rehmat Saleh, was travelling to Panjgur when his convoy was ambushed by unknown group of people.

According to reports, Mr. Saleh’s convoy was attacked with automatic machine guns and RPGs in Parom area of Panjgur. However, no loss of life was reported.

Panjgur, which borders Iran, has been a hotbed of current Baloch insurgency. However, responsibility for attack on Mr. Saleh hasn’t been claimed at the time of filing this report.

China Pakistan economic corridor (CPEC), a multi billion foreign investment by China, also passes through the area. Security situation has deteriorated since the corridor works began.
