Pakistan’s military said on Friday that 41 suspected militants were killed during two intelligence-based operations in Balochistan’s Harnai and Panjgur districts on January 29 (Thursday).

In a statement, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the first operation was conducted on the outskirts of Harnai following intelligence about the presence of armed men.

The statement said troops engaged a suspected hideout and, after what it described as an “intense exchange of fire,” 30 individuals were killed, adding that a large cache of ammunition and explosives was found from the site and was later destroyed.

ISPR said a second intelligence-based operation was conducted the same day in Panjgur district, where 11 suspected militants were killed. It said weapons, ammunition and cash allegedly looted during a bank robbery in Panjgur on 15 December were also recovered.

ISPR said sanitization operations were under way to trace any additional suspects and that counterterrorism efforts would continue under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam”.

The Balochistan Post could not independently verify the claims made by the ISPR.
