The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a Baloch armed group, has claimed responsibility for two separate improvised explosive device (IED) attacks targeting Pakistani military forces in the districts of Kalat and Kech (Gorkop), according to a statement issued by the group’s spokesperson, Jeeyand Baloch.

In the statement, the spokesperson said that BLA fighters carried out a remote-controlled IED attack on foot patrol personnel of the Pakistani military in the Garaap area of Kalat while they were reportedly transporting rations to their posts. The explosion allegedly killed two soldiers and injured another.

In a separate incident, the group claimed that its fighters targeted a bomb disposal unit in the Goerkop area of Kech district, specifically near the Miani Kallag location, while they were conducting clearance operations for military convoys. The BLA stated that one soldier was killed and another injured in the attack.

The group asserted responsibility for both incidents, describing them as part of its ongoing armed campaign against what it calls the “occupying Pakistani forces.”

Pakistani authorities have not yet issued a statement regarding the reported attacks.

The BLA has been involved in an armed insurgency in Balochistan for nearly two decades, targeting Pakistani armed forces and infrastructure in what it describes as a struggle for independence. The government considers the organisation a terrorist group and maintains that its military operations are aimed at protecting national security and stability in the region.
